Shanghai Commercial Bank joined the "SMS Sender Registration Scheme"

 

Our bank has joined the "SMS Sender Registration Scheme". Commencing from 28 Jan 2024, our bank will use "Registered SMS Sender IDs" with prefix "#" to send SMS to local subscribers of mobile services in Hong Kong.

The SMS senders ID registered by our bank are as following. Customers can check the list of participating banks and telecommunications providers and the "Registered SMS sender ID" on the Office of Communications Authority website.

Please note that the current "SMS Sender Registration System" does not included:

• 2-way SMS (i.e., one that the customer has to reply by providing simple command or confirmation). Customers should always remain vigilant when receiving any SMS that claims to be sent by banks and contact the respective banks when in doubt.
• Those SCMN/1C2N SIM cards issued by non-Hong Kong operators may have issue in receiving SMS with prefix “#” in the registered sender ID in a place which does not support Sender ID with alphanumeric characters.
